Position Description: – Pastor to Students (PT)
Main Objective: To partner with the staff and elders of Northwest Christian Church to help make more and better disciples of students in grades 6 – College. Secondary Objective: To develop a cohesive and healthy team of student ministry coaches who are helping make more and better disciples of students in grades 6 – College.
Specific Job Expectations
:: Strategy
Work with the Lead Pastor and Discipleship Pastor to create a cohesive discipleship strategy for students in grades 6 – College that will:
Help connect students to Christ
Create environments where students will be transformed by the Holy Spirit
Equip students to live on mission with Christ for the long-haul
:: Programming
Work in coordination with the Discipleship Pastor to plan and execute high-quality programming for students in grades 6 – College. This can include but is not limited to:
Sunday and/or mid-week youth group
Sunday morning discipleship classes
Periodic retreats, camps, and/or conferences
Cross-cultural missions experiences
Parenting seminars to help equip the parents of students
:: Leadership Development
Help recruit, train, and develop a high capacity, cohesive team of adult coaches to help disciple the students under your care. This team can include but is not limited to:
Volunteer youth coaches
Paid intern(s)
Paid administrative staff
:: Engagement
Be involved in the life of the students under your care as well as be involved in the life of Northwest Christian Church. This can include but is not limited to:
Attending school functions of the students
Actively praying for and counseling students and parents on a regular basis
Discipling key students and helping train them for great ministry responsibilities as appropriate
Actively attend and participate in weekly worship at Northwest Christian Church
Actively attend and participate in a small group at Northwest Christian Church
Faithfully contribute a portion of your income to Northwest Christian Church
Actively attend and participate in other “family” events at Northwest Christian Church
:: Evaluation
Consistently and prayerfully evaluate the ministry to students with a desire to continually improve the ministry so it helps make more and better disciples of Jesus.
:: Administration
Be able to oversee and work with the office team to make sure needed administrative tasks are handled in a timely and professional way.
This can include but is not limited to:
Responding to all emails within 48 hours
Managing budget appropriately so as to ensure good stewardship
Turning in all receipts before the deadline
Communicating clearly, often, and early to leadership, direct reports, and the congregation as a whole
Attending and coming prepared to all scheduled meetings
:: Self-Care
Make sure to prioritize your own discipleship journey as well as that of your family so that you don’t burn out. This can include but is not limited to:
Faithfully practicing weekly sabbath (24 hours with no work)
Consistently taking one day per month during work hours away for prayer and reflection
Prioritizing daily time in the Word
Taking ALL of your vacation every year
Seeking out opportunities for additional on the job training as available
Maintain regular accountability and mentoring relationships with others of the same gender who can guide you and correct you as needed

No ministry job description will ever be all inclusive. Must be prepared to perform other duties as assigned based on the needs of Northwest Christian Church and her families.

A person who loves the Word and prayer and strives to live a life conformed to Scripture

Dedicated team player who knows how to work well with others
Drive to get the job done without waiting for others to tell you what to do
Great sense of humor
A passion for really good coffee is helpful but not necessarily required
Work Schedule
20 hours per week, with the potential for this position to grow into full-time as the ministry grows.
Work schedule is flexible based on the needs of the individual and the church.
Compensation
$25,000/yr. to start
60 hours (3 weeks) PTO, starting day one
