Position Description: Elementary Director (PT)

Main Objective: To provide overall leadership and vision to our Elementary Ministry (grades 1-5) so that kids and parents alike desire to be better disciples of Jesus.

Secondary Objective: To be the primary “cheerleader” for the Elementary Ministry to the Elders/Staff/Family of Northwest Christian Church.

Specific Job Expectations

:: Leadership

Provide overall leadership for the Elementary Ministry (EM) of Northwest Christian Church, utilizing trained and trusted volunteers to help accomplish the task. This can include but is not limited to:

• Identifying, recruiting and training volunteer leaders.

• Providing hands-on direction to volunteers.

• Oversee scheduling of volunteers to ensure safe staffing levels but
also to allow as many people to volunteer as possible.

• Be the “face” of the Elementary Ministry to parents and kids as well
as the church at large.

:: Programming

Create and execute exciting, engaging and biblically grounded programming for kids grades 1-5. This can include but is not limited to:

• Programming for Sunday Morning (at 9:30 and 11:00 am).

• Mid-Week programs.

• Summer programs (camp, VBS, etc).

• Other special events as needed.

:: Administration

Ensure smooth administrative operations for the Elementary Ministry in a way that maximizes efficiency by also honors Christ. This can include but is not limited to:

• Developing an annual budget and oversee Elementary Ministry funds.

• Ensure up to date and accurate records regarding background checks and ministry safe training are kept.• Continually seek ways to improve operational efficiency and overall ministry experience.

• Partner with the Pre-School director to ensure smooth ministry operations.

:: Communications

Be the primary “cheerleader” and lead communicator for the NWCFB. This can include but is not limited to:

• Attending staff meetings regularly.

• Utilizing staff communications channels (slack/email) consistently.

• Sharing needs and updates regularly with the Northwest Christian Church family and other parents.

• “Speak the truth in love” to supervisors and subordinates, in a timely manner and in accordance with the Matthew 18 principle of conflict resolution.

:: Self-Care

Make sure to prioritize your own discipleship journey as well as that of your family so that you don’t burn out. This can include but is not limited to:

• Prioritizing daily time in the Word.

• Being an active participant in Weekend Worship (“Big Church”).

• Seeking out opportunities for additional on the job training as available.

• Functioning as an active and engaged member of the staff team.

• Faithfully giving a portion of your household income to Northwest Christian Church.

:: Other

No ministry job description will ever be all inclusive. Must be prepared to perform other duties as assigned based on the needs of Northwest Christian Church and her families.

Other Details

• This is a part-time, hourly position

• Approximately 15 hours/wk.

• Work schedule is flexible, based on the needs of the ministry

• 3 weeks (45 hours) paid vacation, starting day one
