Math Methods

A study of the various techniques for teaching mathematical concepts to elementary children. An emphasis is placed on practical approaches based on research and learning theory. The development of concepts is built around handson activities that allow children to go beyond specific information, to discover relationships and generalities, and to solve problems. Offered every fall. (Prerequisite: admission to teacher education program. Corequisite: ELE 394.) (Minimum grade “C”)
